In this movie there's a cult scene played by Marilyn (actually as well as in many other movies with the actress), where she sings the famous song Diamonds are a girl's bestafriend.
The plot is about love-seeking, Dorothy (Marilyn Monroe) is attracted by rich men, whereas Lorelei (Jane Russell) by handsome men.
Nuovo post per serie dedicata alla moda nel cinema, oggi parliamo del film Gli uomini preferiscono le bionde. E' una commedia del 1953 ispirato dall'omonimo musical teatrale, e ha come co-protagoniste Marilyn Monroe e Jane Russell.
Come in molti altri film di Marilyn, sono presenti scene cult passate alla storia, in particolare la scena in cui si esibisce cantanando Diamonds are a girl's best friend (I diamanti sono i migliori amici di una ragazza). L'intero film è incentrato sulla ricerca dell'amore, Dorothy (Marilyn Monroe) prova una forte attrazione per uomini facoltosi, mentre Lorelei (Jane Russell) dalla bellezza maschile.
Let's move to outfits.
First of all, stage customes must be mentioned. In the first frame actresses wear a long, sparkling red dress with a plunging neckline and a high slit skirt. For this outfit Ferragamo had made glittery matching pumps. To complete the entire look, both actresses wear a hat made of feathers, and sparkling jewellery.
The second frame is picked from the scene where Marilyn sings the famous song, she wears a shocking pink long dress. The fabric is quiet stiff, the neckline is strapless, the skirt is straight and long, and there's a big bow sewn on the back, like a ribbon wrapped around a gift. As accessories, Marilyn wears long gloves and a high-waisted belt made of the same shocking pink fabric, a pair of black glittery high-heel sandals and lots of jewels, all of them are (fake, I guess) diamonds in different shape and dimension, huge and almost kitsch, to underline song's lyrics.
Passiamo alla selezione di outfit.
Prima di tutto gli sfavillanti costumi di scena delle due ballerine indossati nella scena iniziale del film. Il modello è un abito lungo rosso glitterato con profonde scollature, a cui Ferragamo abbinò décolleté altrettanto luccicanti. Gli accessori delle soubrette sono un copricapo di piume e gioielli sfavillanti.
Il secondo è l'abito lungo rosa shocking indossato da Marilyn nella scena in cui canta la celebre canzone. E' di un tessuto rigido, senza spallini, lungo con la gonna a tubo e un fiocco sulla schiena, quasi come un regalo incartato e infiocchettato. Come accessori Marilyn indossa guanti lunghi e una cintura in vita dello stesso tessuto dell'abito, un paio di sandali nere glitterate con il tacco alto e tanti gioielli simil-diamanti, spudorati e quasi kitsch, per sottolineare il testo della canzone.
Daytime outfits.
In the first frame Jane wears a sky-blue, sweetheart neclkine top and white shorts suit (or perhaps it's actually a swimsuit, I'm not too sure). Besides she has a white cape jacket matched with the suit. The internal side has a polka dots pattern, again in sky-blue and white colours. Sleeves are large and turned up, as well as the collar. Accessories are laced up white flat sandals and silver jewellery.
Marilyn wears a pair of high-waisted dark blue pants, a long-sleeve emerald top with a V plunging neckline, and a lilac fabric belt wrapped around the waist. Jewels are sparkling and dark green, matched with the top.
Outifit da giorno.
Nel primo frame Jane indossa un completino (o forse un costume intero? Non mi so decidere) con un top celeste con lo scollo a cuore e un paio di shorts bianchi. In abbinamento l'attrice indossa una mantellina bianca con la fodera celeste a pois bianchi. Le maniche sono ampie e risvoltate, il colletto è altrettanto ampio. Come accessori indossa i sandali rasoterra alla schiava di colore bianco e gioielli argentati.
Marilyn invece indossa un paio di pantaloni blu scuro a vita alta, un maglietta a maniche lunghe verde smeraldo con un ampio scollo a V, e un'alta fusciacca lilla per sottolineare il punto vita. I gioielli sono verder scuro e richiamano la parte superiore dell'outfit.
In the second frame Jane wears one of my favourite outfits in this movie. It's a black jumpsuit, made with a halter neckline and a pair of high-waisted, tight pants. She also wears a black and white square pattern cape jacket, with the internal side in bright yellow.
As accessories she has lace-up high-heel black sandals and silver jewels.
Nel secondo frame Jane indossa uno degli outfit che ho preferito in assoluto in questo film. E' una tuta nera, il top ha lo scollo a fascia dritto con l'allacciatura all'americana dietro al collo, il pantalone è a vita alta e piuttosto aderente alla gamba. La giacca è una mantella corta con ampie maniche a quadri bianchi e neri, con l'interno di un bel giallo acceso.
Gli accessori sono dei sandali alla schiava neri con tacco alti e gioielli color argento.
Nighttime outfits.
In the first frame Marilyn wears a blue navy tight dress, that does justice to her beautiful wasp's waist! The skirt is straight and long, and it has a sort of train on the back. The actress also wears a bolero jacket matched with the dress, with three-quarter sleeves and round neckline. The outfit is completed by lots of jewellery pieces.
Despite the chaste outfit, Marilyn looks beautifully, curvy and feminine.
Jane wears an evening, gala black dress. The upper part is strapless with a stiff, V plunging neckline and a lot of sparkle. The skirt has a soft A-line and has some folds and a bow on the upper part to give more dimension. In some scenes, she wears this dress match with a grey fur shawl. As accessories, even in this case, she wears sparkling jewels.
Outfit da sera.
Nel primo frame Marilyn indossa un abito lungo blu navy molto aderente sulla parte superiore, e se lo può assolutamente permettere, con la sua bellissima vita da vespa! La gonna è lunga e a tubo, ha una coda applicata che fa un po' da trascico. In abbinamento l'attrice indossa una giacca corta a bolerino, con la manica a tre quarti e un colletto rigido a girocollo. Il tutto è decorato con gioielli brillanti.
Un abito casto con poca pelle scoperta ma che riesce comunque ad esaltare perfettamente le curve di Marilyn.
Jane indossa un abito da gran gala nero. La parte superiore è senza spallini, con uno scollo a V molto strutturato e tanti brillantini. La gonna non è troppo ampia, lunga e con diversi giochi di drappeggi.
In alcune scene, l'abito è abbinato con uno scialle di pelliccia grigia. Gli accessori, anche in questo caso, sono tanti punti luci che richimano lo scintillio del vestito.
In the second frame Marilyn wears a beautiful ultramarine blue long dress, which is quiet tight even in this case. It has a strapless neckline, the waist-line is emphasized by little belt tone on tone. And still, the actress wears a short jacket to match the entire look with three-quarter sleeves and a stiff collar.
Nel secondo frame Marilyn indossa un vestito blu oltremare, anche in questo caso molto aderente. Lo scollo è dritto senza spalline, il punto vita è ulteriormente valorizzato da una cinturina tono su tono. L'outfit è completato da una giacca corta abbinata con manica a tre quarti e un colletto strutturato.
