Moda su Pellicola: Colazione da Tiffany.
Breakfast at Tiffany's

The second movie I'd like to include in the series "Fashion on Film" is as obvious as cult. Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) is one of the most famous movies played by Audrey Hepburn, it's a romantic comedy based on the novel of the same name. Ever since this movie has been giving to us that sweet vintage atmosphere, the beauty of New York in the 60s and the grace of the starring actress.

The most remebered outfit is the long, black evening dress that Audrey wears in the initial scene, accessorizied with a pearl necklace, a pair of long black gloves and a cat-eyed pair of sunglasses. This look went down in history, so I won't talk about it any longer.

In the movie we can find another black dress, it'actually a cocktail dress, with a scoop neckline, sleeveless and a straight knee-deep skirt that ends with a flouse. The accessories for this look are a pair of black low-heeled pointed flats, a wide-brimmed dark hat and the same pair of sunglasses I mentioned before.

Third outfit in this movie: the orange coat. To be honest, I don't particularly like the colour, but I noticed that it has been proposed several times in a rustier shade during the last fall-winter seasons. What I appreciate most in this coat is the shape: double-breasted, it has a quite wide and stiff mandarine collar on a circle neckline. If it were completely straight it would have been a classic 60s coat, but in this case there's a half-belt on the back that underlines the waist-line.

Finally, here's the outfit that represents at best, in my opinion, the Audrey's style and personality -the real one, out of stage. The actress wears a pair of high-waisted straight black trousers and a beige pullover with a truly 60s roll-collar. At last, low-heeled shoes and a gorgeous handbag (seen also in other scenes of the movies) that seems to be made by croc leather with golden chained handles.

You cannot say that Audrey used glitzy or elaborate clothes, this is the proof that simple but still classic items can deserve a special room in the closet. Because they are simply timeless.
